You’ll remember Frank and Jean from their in Fells Point and at the Cylburn Arboretum engagement session. I met with them for the first time at their engagement session, just before hopping on a plane to San Juan for Valerie and Ray’s destination wedding in Puerto Rico. After their wedding, I flew back to Baltimore for Frank and Jean’s wedding at the University Baptist Church in Baltimore. Traveling so much for weddings can be exhausting, but it can also be exhilarating, this two week span was exhilerating!!!
I had spoken with Jean over the phone while I was in San Diego about her and Frank’s upcoming wedding. She had been referred to me by Bridget and Matt … I shot their wedding so long ago, I can’t even provide a link to their blog post because, well, back then I didn’t have a blog! (I love my couples, and I love that even years later, they’re still referring me … even after I moved across the country!) Any way, I spoke with Jean on the phone about their plans, and even though their wedding was coming up so soon, it worked out perfectly as my travel plans were taking me back East just before their wedding anyway. Since, they wanted to have an engagement session, we scheduled to meet in person the day before I left for Old San Juan, then fly back from Puerto Rico to document their wedding in Baltimore. Again, it can be exhausting, but so much fun to travel this much!!!

Jean and Frank chose the University Baptist Church, just across from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore as it was her childhood church, and even she had moved out of the city, many of her family still lived in Baltimore, and went to the church. Jean got ready in the back of the church right next to the small chapel. After the ceremony, I took Frank and Jean back to the chapel to get some quiet portraits of the two of them. It’s such a beautiful little area in the church with fantastic light!

I honestly don’t know how to talk about this wedding! If you remember Alix and Nate’s engagement session on the blog, you know that I’ve really been looking forward to their wedding. It’s not that I don’t look forward to all my weddings, but this is one of those weddings where I felt like I was photographing a family member. Getting to know Alix over the past four years in her friend’s weddings I had the honor of photographing, then getting know Nate at the engagement shoot and hear their awesome story of how they met I knew this was going to be a fantastic day.
Since their wedding was on a Friday, I flew into Baltimore on Wednesday and apparently brought the San Diego weather with me. Instead of hot, and rainy the weekend was outstanding in the upper 70s and passing clouds. I met up with Alix and her girls at her mother’s house just a few miles from the Valley Country Club in Baltimore. After getting ready, we went to Valley Country Club to photograph the girls alone before guests started arriving. Alix and Nate held their ceremony on the steps to Valley Country Club with their cocktail hour on the front deck and main hall of the mansion. Then on to dinner and dancing in the ballroom.
Alix and Nate, thank you so much for including me in your wedding day plans! It was so great spending your day with you and seeing Jennifer and Sean, Ella and Mike, Heather and Chad, Alison, Ursula, and Tory again!
Friends and Family members, Alix and Nate’s wedding photos will be live soon, you can hop over to Pictage to see all the images from their wedding. In the meantime, check out a few images below and of course a few more on the slideshow over at the podcast!

Alison and David were supposed to be married on the beach at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, unfortunately the weather decided not to cooperate for their ceremony. Instead they held their ceremony in the beautiful lobby of the Phillip Merrill Environmental Center at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Friends and family gathered in the two story lobby to watch Alison and David exchange their vows, and during the ceremony their rings were passed among the guests so that each could silently pass their hopes and prayers along to the couple. After the ceremony and a bit of mingling with their guests during cocktail hour, the rain finally let up. I grabbed Alison and David and we headed down to the beach while the guests were being seated for dinner. Even though we had very little time together down at the beach we got some terrific photos during that time, including a few with the dramatic clouds still lingering over the Chesapeake Bay.

Catherine and Jeff were the last couple I met with and signed before Kristy and I decided to pack up our things and head across the country to restart our lives on the West Coast. Since that time I have traveled back to the East Coast to document many weddings, and continue to get new couples in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. I absolutely love traveling back East to photograph weddings since it gives me the opportunity to experience the seasons that I don’t otherwise get now that I’m living in San Diego.
Catherine and her girls got ready at Catherine’s parent’s house and she and her father took a vintage car to the church where a bag piper was playing to Catherine’s arrival. After the ceremony we drove to a nearby park where Catherine and Jeff had spent many dates, and was the site of Jeff’s proposal as well! Even though they got married on the 31st of October, it was far from a theme wedding, other than perhaps Fall themed, however Jeff’s guys decided they had to incorporate Halloween into the day and broke out sunglasses, fake mustaches and squeeky clown noses while we were shooting portraits.
The weather gods were not with me on this day however, and after raining on and off for most of the morning, the clouds finally opened up as Catherine and Jeff walked to the spot where Jeff proposed. They were great sports though and even though it continued to rain we still stopped to grab some beautiful shots at the street leading to the park where we saw the most beautiful display of yellow leaves carpeting the road and still hanging from the trees.
The reception was held at The Mendenhall Inn and it was awesome! They incorporated a nod to the day by having candy jars for their guests to go trick-or-treating from. The band ‘The Midnight Hour‘ rocked the reception from the introductions to the last dance! These guys were amazing … Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Barry White, Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake … really!? Yes, they pulled all of them off and got everyone on the dance floor! If you’re getting married in Delaware or Pennsylvania, I highly recommend checking them out! I seriously had a great time with Catherine and Jeff and all their friends! Check out a few of the images below, and the slideshow on the podcast as well!
