Dream
I’ve always been a dreamer. Always. My kindergarten teacher reported that “If Evan would just stop daydreaming and focus he would do much better in class”. So few people are ever encouraged to dream. Even fewer actually live their dreams in spite of being told to focus and ‘do better’. I am that rare person. Every time I pick up my camera to document a wedding I witness two people coming together to realize their dream of spending their lives together. I get to capture that moment. I get to experience that shared dream with each of my couples.
After graduating from the University of Maryland with a degree in photography I put my cameras away for years! It wasn’t until a friend asked me to show him how to use his new camera that I realized how much I missed photography. Since that moment I have pursued living my dream of making photography my life’s purpose.
So … what makes me … well … me!?
I am a sap! I’m not afraid to admit I get a little choked up over a great toast, the perfect first dance song, a special moment between a bride and her mother, Sprite commercials … yes, I said Sprite commercials. In no particular order I love music, playing the piano, the guitar, I still have my elementary school trumpet and fondly recall my punk rock band days – I even played baseball with the Ramones once. Amelie; Raising Arizona; It’s a Wonderful Life; Wings of Desire; The Diving Bell and the Butterfly; To Kill a Mockingbird; Where the Sea Used to Be; A Dog Year; The Time Treveler’s Wife; The Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane; Little Black, A Pony just to name a few of my favorite movies and books.
Food and wine … yes please!
I love to cook and one of my favorite things to do is to cook for family and friends with my best friend Kristy! This always includes wine, laughing and full bellies by the end of the night. Now that I am living in beautiful Southern California, Temecula Wine Country has become a favorite weekend getaway and the perfect one hour jaunt to take out of town guests. We are members of several vineyards and are excited to see our cellar growing with fabulous California wines!
